CTG Insights Interview - Ashton Wood
Monday Oct 18, 2021
Monday Oct 18, 2021
This week I had the privilege to interview Ashton Wood of DV Safe Phone, a charity that takes your old mobile phones, prepares them and gives them to people experiencing Domestic Violence.
He shares his story of entrepreneurship and details about how he orchestrated some MASSIVE changes in Australia relating to 'Lemon Cars', consumer rights, how we think about our old mobile telephones and Domestic Violence.
I was inspired by his vision for DV Safe Phone, it's truly incredible.
If you want to support, help, find out more or become involved in any way, here are some links:
A short video explaining how DV Safe Phone works https://youtu.be/rQPxPvpUvBA
Some press about the campaign:
Jeep Announcement: https://www.caradvice.com.au/857687/jeep-australia-steps-in-to-help-victims-of-domestic-violence/
ABC press coverage: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-13/domestic-violence-charity-wants-old-mobile-phones/100532002
Queensland Police Commissioner statement: https://mypolice.qld.gov.au/news/2020/10/19/mobile-phone-lifeline-for-those-impacted-by-domestic-and-family-violence/
The DV Safe Phone program helps in the following ways:
- It provides a “safe phone” to victims of domestic violence, to use in an emergency.
- It allows domestic violence and law enforcement agencies to focus on the amazing services they already offer, with us providing the “technology” (phones) required.
- It provides a Corporate Social Responsibility program like no other, with DV Safe Phone doing all the heavy lifting (all people/companies need to do is send us the phones and we will do the rest)
- We are another level of security around the disposal of old mobile devices. (we individually factory reset and test every phone and remove and destroy any removable SD cards that are still in the phones we receive)
- We meet the environmental requirements around disposal of old mobile devices (if we can’t use the phone due to age/damage, we will ensure it’s recycled through an official mobile phone recycling centre.

Your business vision
Tuesday Aug 03, 2021
Tuesday Aug 03, 2021
In this episode, I talk about a business vision and how vitally important it is for an entrepreneur.
Setting a clear vision is critical to enable a simple plan or strategy to be developed for a business, in order to drive the business towards that vision.
It's a simple concept which is one of the most often overlooked features when launching or building a business venture.
So sit back, grab a coffee and a biscuit (cookie for those of you in the States), get dunking and have a listen.
This podcast is drawn from the first week of my Transform Your Business in 21 Days program, aimed at entrepreneurs and small business owners around the world. Find out more here https://www.pinkbamboo.net/courses/TYB21D
